REVIEW: Inside

It may sound unbelievable, but it’s already been 6 years since the release of a game that’s already made it onto the pages of recent gaming history and is remembered as one of the biggest and best surprises that ever graced our computers and consoles. Of course, we’re talking about Limbo, debut game from the Danish company Playdead, that practically became famous overnight with only one, yet very valuable game. Limbo exuded atmospheric and unique design, and even now after some time, when you decide to play it again (or for the first time), it feels so fresh, smooth and polished, that it’s a pleasure to go through that black and white world mottled with a million shades of grey (and not just 50). In…

REVIEW: Hitman – Episode 4: Bangkok

As Agent 47 reaches beyond the half-mark of the announced 7 episodes, we can more accurately judge the general quality of this installment. From one episode to the next, we bore witness to refreshing moments amidst a few recycled elements. But something that we can definitely say for the fourth one is that it’s set in the most visually stunning location so far. The luxurious hotel in Bangkok in which Agent 47 had found himself this time will certainly hold your attention in the first minutes of gameplay, with its atmospheric twilight and gorgeous landscapes. The target in this episode is a famous musician who’s been targeted by the family of his ex-girlfriend that hold’s him accountable for her murder. That’s where the hired Agent…

REVIEW: Batman: The Telltale Series – Episode 1

The famous story of Batman has always actually been a story about a man, Bruce Wayne, and his internal battle with ghosts of the past and monsters of the present.  Out of all mainstream superhero stories, Batman’s is definitely the most mature and dark. This exact thread is what Telltale is trying to follow with its new adventure series, Batman – The Telltale Series. The first episode came out this August and we of course couldn’t wait to try it out, because everyone who’s familiar with Telltale games knows that the dark and twisted world of Gotham city is perfect ground for a Telltale adventure, filled with difficult decisions and layered characters. The story this Telltale adventure follows is the exact motive we mentioned in…

REVIEW: No Man’s Sky

When an ambitious project like No Man’s Sky comes around, no one can stay indifferent. Some people immediately start biting their fingernails with anticipation to try such a game, whole others just shake their head and immediately prophesize its doom. But both groups actually share one hope – a true desire for a game so grandiose, that only an open universe filled with countless planets would suffice. Sigh… There was no way of diving into this game before one deep breath filled with hopes and fears. As it’s a procedurally generated world, oops, universe, the start will be a unique experience for every player. Your character wakes up beside a broken space ship which he has to repair so he can leave the planet and…

INTERVIEW: Life of Boris

This month we had an honor to talk with Boris. Boris warned us that he gets rather chatty during interviews which is all fine with us. An hour and a half later, we had a barrel of laughs and one of the best interviews so far. Life of Boris is a Youtube channel that’s very familiar to many gamers and even non-gamers from Serbia. From gaming, through cooking and explaining the ”Slav” culture, Boris has it all. Here’s what he has to say about his life on Youtube. Which video do you think started to give you attention? The first video that gave my channel some attention was Cheeki Breeki Airlines. After that people started slowly discovering the channel. The more videos I made, the…

Resident Evil 7: Demo Impressions & Everything we’ve Learned About the Game at E3

One of the biggest surprises of the recent E3 was at Sony’s conference when Resident Evil 7 was announced. As with most of the games Sony presented at the show, new Resident Evil will support their VR set. But the biggest shock for the audience was not only that, but that the game is presented from a first person perspective, akin to the found footage horror films. Unfortunately, demo is exclusive to Playstation 4 and you’ll also need to have an active Playstation Plus subscription just to download it. If you don’t have a PS4 lying nearby, we’ve recorded the gameplay from the demo, which you can watch below:     Similarities to P.T. (which also had a demo launched during an E3 conference) aren’t…

PLAY! Zine #96 – June 2016

Hello everyone, This month we had many major contenders for our coveted Game of the Month award – some went the distance, some stumbled, but in the end there could ever be only one. And it brought DOOM upon its opponents. Bad pun aside, DOOM marks return to form for the classic FPS genre, proving once again that you don’t need Shakespearean storyline and convoluted mechanics to make an excellent game. Sometimes simple is better, and the pure joy of mowing down demon after demon took us on a nostalgia trip from which we’re yet to return. The main runner-ups, namely Overwatch and Uncharted 4, are also excellent games in their own right, each bringing something fresh to the table – from Uncharted’s masterful ending…

After so much anticipation and rise in hype every time guys and girls from the Naughty Dog studio presented us with a new demo from the game, the latest and probably final sequel of the adventures of the charismatic adventurer, Drake, is finally here. Did we get another classic that in a few years time we’ll remember with a smile and tell our gamer friends about the moments that left us breathless? SPOILER ALERT: Ooooooh yes, we certainly did! What does the fourth game show…

REVIEW: Stellaris

Paradox, uncrowned masters of their craft when it comes to “Grand strategies”, have presented us with a small surprise with their new game, Stellaris. Although their games are known to mostly appeal to history buffs, this time they went away from their usual historical boundaries and brought us a game with no historical inhibitions, so it falls to the player to create the story for themselves. This concept removes the burden of facts and rules already at its core, paving the way for unrestrained creativity in a genre which is in itself a complete sandbox. You begin the game by choosing the space nation to start the game with. The game offers several predefined options, but certainly the most fun option is to create your…

REVIEW: Shadwen

One of the more popular premises in the world of computer games is giving the player control over a murderer who stands out from the antagonist archetype. We’ve seen this in games like Assassins Creed and Hitman, and on this premise Frozenbyte studio, made famous by their fantastic game Trine, set their stealth game, Shadwen. The story of Shadwen revolves around a damsel of the same name who, using a short sword, hook, a few more gadgets and accompanied by the world’s most annoying orphan Lilly, tries to kill the evil, devious, bad, ugly and <insert an adjective describing someone in a bad context> king, who deserves to die for all of the above, as well as conquering their city and killing their loved ones.…
