Ever since the appearance of PCX2 program which enabled us to run (badly) Playstation games on a PC, emulation of modern consoles became a hobby of many programmers, and a point of interest for many PC gamers as well. Unfortunately, we are still far from complete emulation of PS3 and X360 games, let alone any of the current consoles. The emulation process is based on having your computer run a simulation of non-standard hardware through which it simulates software and therefore makes this quite a demanding undertaking.
But, we may be approaching an era of emulated Playstation 3 games, because one programmer group managed to successfully emulate PS3. The game they managed to run was After Burner Climax, a game that’s not very graphically demanding, which explains the solid framerate in the video. However, there are still issues during emulation, as well as a need for a decently strong PC.
It’s not much, but it’s a start. We suggest Red Dead Redemption as their next project.
