Logitech keeps refreshing and upgrading its G Pro lineup, from mice and keyboards to headsets. Which is how the latest generation of the Pro X3 wireless headset landed in our hands!
They say you shouldn’t change what works, and Logitech is clearly confident in its G Pro products, as they change only minimally from one generation to the next. In a rather minimalist, luxurious-feeling black box you’ll find plenty of goodies – the headset itself, a detachable microphone, a wireless receiver, a USB-A to USB-C cable and a 3.5mm cable for connecting to any analog output. There’s also an extra set of ear pads covered in fine fabric, plus a nice carrying pouch to keep everything packed together in one place.
The headset itself has seen only minimal changes – it still resembles professional studio headphones more than a typical gaming model, which is admittedly part of its charm. The ear pads are made of very fine faux leather with extremely soft memory foam inside, and the same principle applies to the headband, which is also padded and finished with neat stitching along the edges for an extra touch of luxury. The headband is the classic extendable metal type and feels like it can survive anything you throw at it, and one extra I always appreciate is that the earcups can rotate to lie flat on a desk.

The outer sides of the earcups feature a brushed Logitech G logo, which looks very premium. The leather pads are extremely comfortable and provide phenomenal passive isolation from outside noise, but in hotter weather I’d still recommend the fabric pads, which are also excellent. All the controls are on the headset itself – on the left side you’ll find the volume wheel, USB-C port, Bluetooth button, microphone port and power button. A nice touch in this generation is the LED under the power button, which shows not only that the headset is on but also which connection mode it’s in – very handy.
With all these quality materials, this is of course neither the lightest headset on the market nor in Logitech’s lineup, and at 356 grams it’s even slightly heavier than the previous generation. However, it’s worth pointing out that the rated battery life has gone up from 50 to a whopping 70 hours, which is well worth a few extra grams.
With the G Pro X3, Logitech once again uses 50mm drivers, but this time they’re made of graphene – essentially a one-atom-thick layer of carbon used in the driver membrane to reduce distortion. I have to admit these are nuances I don’t really notice myself, but the fact is that this headset delivers near-studio sound quality, which is top of the line in gaming, especially among wireless models. It’s also worth noting that it supports 7.1 surround sound, so you get full positional audio in games.

On the other hand, some users of the previous G Pro generation complained that the microphone picked up too much ambient noise in very loud environments, such as arenas hosting professional esports tournaments. That’s where Logitech made the most changes, and the microphone now offers a full 48 kHz/16-bit frequency range and picks up sound from all directions.
On top of that, you can fine-tune everything in the G Hub software down to the smallest detail, including preset sound equalizers and Blue VO!CE technology for the microphone. What’s more, this doesn’t have to be a headset just for pro players – with this level of quality, it’s just as useful for streamers, podcasters and anyone else who needs good sound and a clear microphone.
You can connect the headset to a PC or other devices via USB, the 3.5mm audio jack (stereo mode only, though), the included Lightspeed wireless dongle or Bluetooth. One possible complaint here is that Logitech hasn’t added simultaneous Bluetooth and wireless connectivity with the ability to choose and mix audio, which some competing models in this price range offer.
Logitech pushes the boundaries once again with the Pro X3, bringing even better sound and build quality to what is essentially its flagship product. Keep in mind, though, that the improvements are evolutionary rather than revolutionary, and that this is currently probably one of the best headsets you can find on the market – which of course means you’ll have to set aside a hefty sum of money.
